Ever feel like you’re ‘too old’ for something? That’s how I used to feel about acne. It was bad when I was a teen and lingered well into my twenties. I’ve tried kit after kit from brand after brand all promising to get rid of the foolishness that was on my face. There’s no telling how much I’ve spent on overpriced products that did not deliver. All I know is that I was tired of it.
One day, I was completely out of face wash and decided to grab something quick from the ‘natural products’ kiosk at the mall. BEST. DECISION. EVER. I picked up some African Black Soap and loved how squeaky clean my face felt. Over time, I realized that my blemishes and acne scars were gone. Even when I’m *ahem* hormonal, I’ll get maybe one or two bumps but nowhere near as many as I used to. Who knew that all the time and money spent on pricey products I could have been using this?! You can also use African Black Soap for shaving, shampooing and as a body wash! (You can read about more of its benefits here)
Liquid Black Soap: $6.99
My favorite is Alaffia African Black Soap (Peppermint)
I was also on the hunt for a new moisturizer and found Earth Science’s Almond-Aloe Moisturizer. It’s light and silky with a slight scent. I’ve only been using it for a few weeks but so far so good!
Now this is where I really feel I hit the jackpot. I was also in need of a nighttime moisturizer because the $40 cream (in a tiny bottle) I purchased from Mary Kay had not only run out but was also a let down. No shade, just facts! Whole Foods sells Everyday Coconut Face Cream and I’m in love. My skin is so soft when I wake up! Not to mention, this bottle is going to last for a good while. I like getting my money’s worth.
Nighttime Replenishing Face Cream: $8.99
